Who is affected: all citizens of Ukraine and the State Migration Service
Summary:
- a person will be allowed to apply for simultaneous processing (including the replacement of lost or stolen documents) or renewal of both a national passport and an international passport
- Ukrainian citizens abroad will be able to apply for a national passport and/or an international passport processing to state enterprises managed by the State Migration Service
- individuals who have reached the age of 65 will not be required to renew their national passports
- urgent processing and renewal of a national passport will be carried out within 7 business days after the application form is submitted (instead of 10 business days defined in the current version of the law)
- the bill resolves major inconsistencies in the law related to lowering the age (from 16 to 14) for issuing national and international passports to persons deprived of personal freedom due to the armed aggression against Ukraine
What is right:
- administrative procedures for processing and renewal of passports for Ukrainian citizens will be simplified
Background information: on May 7, 2022, the Cabinet approved a resolution on the implementation of an experimental project on simultaneous processing (including the replacement of lost or stolen documents) or renewal of a national passport and an international passport.
