Summary:
- the bill stipulates that the minimum salary for local government employees cannot be less than the minimum wage as of January 1 of the respective year (as of January 1, 2024 – 7100 UAH)
- decisions regarding bonuses, extra payments for additional workload, and other payments, along with their rationale, will be published on the websites of local councils within 10 calendar days after the respective decision is made
What is right:
- there will be clear legal regulations on the salaries of local government employees
- mandatory publication of the decisions on bonuses and their rationale will make local governments more transparent and boost citizens’ trust in public servants
Background information: On May 2, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law on civil service in local government bodies. Among other things, the law introduced guarantees and financial incentives for officials.
