Who is affected: combat veterans and people with disabilities caused by war
Summary:
- if a person already holds combat veteran status and is granted the status of a person with disabilities caused by war, their previous combat veteran status will be preserved
- the bill expands the list of people with disabilities caused by war. This status will be designated to those who have sustained injuries, concussions, disabilities, or illnesses as a result of combat actions, terrorist acts, sabotage, or other consequences of military aggression by Russia during martial law. This will also apply to those who have been affected by explosions, munitions, or missile strikes
- people with disabilities caused by war who are accepted for military service under a contract will have the right to receive the combat veteran status
- a person who holds both the combat veteran status and the status of a person with disabilities caused by war will be able to choose which benefits to receive — from either category.
What is right:
- individuals with both combat veteran status and status as a person with disabilities caused by war will be able to choose their benefits and guarantees. This will allow for consideration of the individual needs of each person.
