Cabinet resolution #1028 of September 6, 2024
Decision-maker: the Cabinet of Ministers
Status: in effect since September 6, 2024
Who is affected: the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, the Ministry for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development, and residents of Ukraine
Summary:
- the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy is renamed to the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications
- the Ministry for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development is renamed to the Ministry for Community and Territories Development.
What is wrong: the renaming is likely to initiate an internal transformation process within the ministries, leading to another prolonged disruption of their proper functioning. Frequent restructuring of these ministries causes management collapse and undermines trust in the civil service within the ministries.
Background information: on September 2, 2019, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine was established instead of the Ministry of Information Policy, and the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Youth and Sports were dissolved. At the same time, the Ministry for Regional Development, Construction, Housing, and Communal Services was renamed to the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development.
On March 23, 2020, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine was renamed to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports was restored. On December 2, 2022, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry for Community and Territories Development were merged into the Ministry for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development.
