Summary: 

  • the resolution establishes an interagency working group to facilitate the negotiation process for Ukraine’s EU accession and the adaptation of its legislation to EU law 
  • Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine is appointed as the head of the interagency working group 
  • the resolution also defines the composition of working groups by sectors from representatives of ministries and other central executive bodies, the Office of the President, and MPs 
  • the regulations for the interagency working group are approved. According to these regulations, the working group is a temporary consultative advisory body of the Cabinet 
  • the interagency working group will focus on the following tasks: 
    • facilitate the preparation of negotiations and the development of a consolidated state negotiation position 
    • determine ways, mechanisms, and methods to resolve problematic issues arising during the development of the negotiation position 
    • facilitate the preparation for bilateral meetings with the European Commission regarding the official assessment of the state of implementation of EU law 
    • plan, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of recommendations contained in the decisions made by the European Commission regarding Ukraine 
    • prepare proposals for developing a draft national program for adapting Ukraine’s legislation to EU law. 

What is right: the resolution will promote the coordination of efforts among state authorities regarding EU accession and the implementation of EU law into the legal system of Ukraine.
