Who is affected: the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Finance
Summary: the order proposes to allocate 2 billion 488 million UAH to the Ministry of Defense. In particular:
- for fortification equipment of defensive lines — 1,362.2 million UAH
- for construction of strips of non-explosive barriers — 1,126.4 million UAH.
What is right: the order will allow the state to quickly strengthen its defense capabilities by providing additional funding on top of the simplified procedures for the construction of fortification structures.
Background: on December 29, 2023, Cabinet resolution #1415 came into force. It requires from the Ministry of Defense, oblast, Kyiv city, and raion military (state) administrations, local military administrations, and the State Agency for Reconstruction and Infrastructure Development to ensure the construction of military engineering and fortification structures at the expense of the government budget, local budgets, and other sources.
