Who is affected: persons whose property was destroyed or damaged due to the Russian aggression and the Ministry for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development
Summary of the bill:
more formats of compensation for housing damaged due to Russian aggression will be introduced:
- it will be allowed to transfer the compensation money to a special account. Money from such accounts can be used exclusively for construction work and purchase of building materials
- it will be allowed to get reimbursement for the cost of construction work and building materials purchased before receiving compensation.
What is right:
- there will be more flexibility for recipients of compensation regarding how the compensation can be used
- victims of the aggression will have the option to get compensation for the cost of housing restoration they paid for with their own money.
Background information: on March 17, 2023, the President signed a law on compensation for damaged and destroyed housing. We described the shortcomings of this law here. On May 10, the procedure for providing compensation for damaged housing under the e-Recovery program started.
