  • Olha Pishchanska, a member of the Accounting Chamber, is appointed as the head of the Accounting Chamber. 

What is right: 

  • the head of the Accounting Chamber was appointed in compliance with the constitutional procedure. 

Why this is important: 

  • the Accounting Chamber, acting on behalf of the Parliament, exercises control over the flow of funds into the government budget and their use by conducting external state financial audits 
  • non-competitive appointment of a chairperson undermines trust in the institution that is responsible for auditing international assistance. There is a draft bill on the Accounting Chamber currently submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. It proposes strict requirements regarding the work and competitive appointment procedure for the head of the Accounting Chamber.
