Who is affected: courts and people with disabilities (3 million people)
Summary:
- people with vision, hearing, and cognitive disabilities will have more rights in civil, economic, and administrative processes
- people with disabilities will have the right to:
- file petitions and motions
- give explanations orally, in writing, or via a mediator of their choice
- receive information about the content and course of the proceedings in a way that is accessible to them
- have personal support while exercising their procedural rights
- if a person who mainly or primarily communicates in sign language is participating in a court session, the presence of a sign language interpreter will be mandatory.
What is right:
- the rights of people with disabilities will be protected when dealing with the justice system
- discrimination against people with disabilities will be eliminated.
