The Centre of United Actions team is delighted to announce the winners of the poster competition “The power belongs to you. Know your place”.
Because of the pandemic, this year we decided to skip the official awards ceremony and engaged our judges to announce the winners of the contest via a video.
The winner of the Best poster is Viktor Zolotarenko, the second-place winners are Ivan Lampeka and Kasap Viktoriia, the third-place winners — Maksym Kytsiuk, Oksana Hrebenkova, and Mykola Rudyk.
The winner of the Best art design award is Ivan Lampeka. The author of the best motto “Too wrapped up to have your say? Someone else will do it in your stead” is Oksana Hrebenkova.
The winner of the Audience choice award (by a Facebook poll) is Artem Vashkevych.
Overall the contest “The power belongs to you. Know your place” has received over 100 posters by 68 participants from 16 oblasts of Ukraine.
“People in power love to make fun of others, but they are quite sensitive when someone laughs at them. My purpose is not to make local politicians fear, but it is very important to me that citizens were not afraid of anything. Ukrainian voters often do not know what to demand from their authorities, what are the responsibilities of their local councilors, mayors, members of the Parliament, or the President. As a result, local politicians have an easy time manipulating us. This poster competition is supposed to give some momentum in thinking about these issues.”
— said the head of the Centre of United Actions, a judge of the contest Oleh Rybachuk.
Other judges of the contest were the painter and poster designer Nikita Titov, illustrators and founders of the Art Studio AGRAFKA Romana Romanyshyn and Andriy Lesiv, lawyer Masi Nayyem, local economic development program manager WNISEF and the founder of the International Mayors Summit Iryna Ozymok, journalist and activist Serhii Nitikenko, and Pact’s Ukraine country director Roland Kovats.
Posters submitted by the contest participants will soon be printed on T-shirts, notebooks, cups, calendars, and books. Promotional merchandise will be available on the official website of the Centre of United Actions.
