Who is affected: individuals suspected of corruption crimes, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, and the State Bureau of Investigations
Summary:
- when selecting a preventive measure for individuals suspected or accused of corruption crimes, a court will be obliged to resort to detention
- this provision will be effective only during martial law and for one year following its conclusion.
What is right:
- suspects and individuals accused of corruption will not be able to flee abroad
- if the bill introducing agreements on the admission of guilt passes, it will encourage suspects and motivate defendants in corruption cases to cooperate.
