While the Verkhovna Rada is on vacation, the Government and the President make decisions that will influence government bodies and people\u2019s everyday life.<\/p>\n

Today in our digest: medical staff gets extra money, the Cabinet creates a new ministry of strategic industries, and the President launches an advisory council on war veterans\u2019 affairs.<\/p>\n

Medical staff gets additional salary<\/h2>\n

Decision-<\/strong>maker: <\/strong>the Cabinet.<\/p>\n

Who <\/strong>is <\/strong>affected: <\/strong>Ukrainian citizens, medics and other employees of healthcare establishments.<\/p>\n

What does it change:<\/strong><\/p>\n

the Ministry of Healthcare will get additional \u20b46 billion from Ukrainian Covid-19 fund to pay additional salaries to medical staff<\/p>\n

state debt servicing will be down by \u20b42.6 billion<\/p>\n

Ukrainian Covid-19 fund will provide less money for unemployment insurance fund (by a \u20b41 billion) and sole proprietor\u2019s childcare support (by \u20b4500 million).<\/p>\n

What is right: <\/strong>the Government provides additional financial support to medical staff that fights the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

What is wrong: <\/strong>additional salaries for medics are provided at the expense of those who had suffered losses because of lockdown restrictions and financial crisis caused by the pandemic.<\/p>\n

The Cabinet creates a new Ministry on Strategic Industries<\/h2>\n

Decision-<\/strong>maker: <\/strong>the Cabinet.<\/p>\n

Who is affected: <\/strong>Ukrainian citizens, business, and government bodies.<\/p>\n

What does it change: <\/strong>there will be a new ministry in the Cabinet. It will take over some of the responsibilities of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade, and Agriculture.<\/p>\n

What is right: <\/strong>the new ministry should boost defense sector and other Ukrainian strategic industries.<\/p>\n

What is wrong: <\/strong>the Ministry has been created without a clear vision of its goals and insufficient data on industries it is supposed to look after.<\/p>\n

What\u2019<\/strong>s <\/strong>next: <\/strong>the Cabinet has to approve a resolution on the newly created ministry and define its agenda, goals, procedures, and the size of its staff.<\/p>\n

Advisory board on war veterans\u2019 affairs created<\/h2>\n

Who <\/strong>is <\/strong>affected: <\/strong>government bodies, war veterans, families of the deceased defenders of Ukraine, people arbitrarily detained on the temporary occupied territories.<\/p>\n

What does it change:<\/strong> an advisory and consultative body on war veterans\u2019 affairs will be created under the President. The board will perform the following duties:<\/p>\n

analyze implementation of state policy on social security of war veterans<\/p>\n

develop proposals to make it easier for soldiers to receive a combatant status<\/p>\n

enhance state policies on helping war veterans, families of the deceased defenders of Ukraine and people arbitrarily detained on the temporary occupied territories of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

What is wrong:<\/strong> the President has no authority over policies on social security of the veterans and families\u2019 of the deceased defenders of Ukraine.
