{"id":14879,"date":"2024-11-12T12:39:58","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T10:39:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/centreua.org\/?p=14879"},"modified":"2024-11-12T12:39:58","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T10:39:58","slug":"childbirth-assistance-increase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/centreua.org\/en\/monitoring\/childbirth-assistance-increase\/","title":{"rendered":"Childbirth assistance increase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Draft bill #<a href=\"https:\/\/centreua.us15.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=0e9d6ee6b71a633cc0e1c6fc8&amp;id=8e76db4640&amp;e=f588c8fd9b\">12184<\/a> of November 6, 2024<\/p>\n<p>Cosponsors: 16 MPs from the European Solidarity and Servant of the People factions, the Trust and For the Future groups with Oleksii Honcharenko as the first signatory<\/p>\n<p>Who is affected: families with children, the Ministry of Social Policy, and the Cabinet of Ministers<\/p>\n<p>Status: sent for review to the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy<\/p>\n<p>Summary: childbirth assistance will be calculated based on the subsistence minimum for children under 6 that applies on the day of the child\u2019s birth<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>childbirth assistance will be equal to 105 subsistence wages (currently 269,115 UAH) and paid in parts:\n<ul>\n<li>a one-time payment of 25 subsistence wages (64,075 UAH)<\/li>\n<li>the remaining assistance will be paid over 3 years in equal installments (5,688 UAH per month)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>the Cabinet of Ministers will define the payment procedure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What is right: childbirth assistance is correlated with the subsistence wage for children of the corresponding age. The subsistence wage reflects the actual costs needed to meet the basic needs of a child, including food, clothing, hygienic products, and medical services. This correlation will help to adjust the payment amount to inflation and rising prices.<\/p>\n<p>Why this is important: an increase in childbirth assistance is significant, but it is not enough to substantially stimulate birth rates.
